Now let's talk about the other shopping I did today. I went to Nordstrom's, been meaning to go there for days and of course I finally make it on a day with tornado warnings and thunder storms because that's just the kind of person I am, lazy and waiting til the last minute! Anyway, I pulled out a ton of things to try on but there wasn't a lot of love. Lots of things that were less then flattering but there was 1 dress I was dying to try on so I waited til last for that. I finally found a red dress that I liked. It's low cut which you know is a plus. Yes, I could have taken a pic in it but you'll be seeing plenty of pics of me in Vegas with it on so I don't want to spoil the surprise, LOL.
Then it was time to try on THE DRESS. I tried to find a pic online to share with you but the Nordy's website didn't have it. It's a black tube style dress that is sort of fitted then flares out and it has bold stripes throughout. It's sort of 70s style dress. It goes all the way to the floor. The problem with that is, I'm 4'11". These dresses are not meant for someone my height but I loved this dress so I bought it and then paid to get it altered. She originally quoted $45 but I told her the dress was $50 so then she said $35. I can't believe I paid that much for alterations. I was sucked in by the love of my dress. The reason it cost so much was because I was getting the original style hem but then later I was thinking, who is going to notice my hem? I should have asked her what the price was for regular hem, d'oh! Live and learn! I already know when I'm wearing this, Vegas of course. But I've already warned my co-workers at the post office that I'll be wearing it to go to the post office and I do believe I may be wearing it when I vacuum. I need to get my money's worth!
10 Mannions Speak :
I want the one that says ado(red) and I think I'm going to get it. I need to buy yet another red shirt. Between red and purple, that pretty much sums up the colors I wear. LOL. I love the shirt and you wear it quite well! Can't wait to see the dresses. Of course, if you really love the dress, then it's totally worth getting it altered. Don't forget you can also clean your bathroom in it. There will be many times you can wear the dress. LOL!!
All in all it sounds like it was a pretty good shopping day for you, even though you only got a few things.
Hugs!!
Can't wait to see the dress! LOL at the previous post! Lina on your ASS?? There's a blog in that I'm sure! Maybe someday I'll reveal the secret guacamole recipe! It you love it, the alterations are worth it because you will wear it to death!
Off to get some red shirts, skirts, and pants...
Talk is cheap, I want piccies NOW!
If I had known you were going to pull a "wait till vegas to see it" routine, I would have been nagging you hardcore for the pics! Hmph.
I do love the red shirt, I'll have to see if Macy's has the hamme(red) one, I hope to live up to it soon LMAO
MWAH!
Red does look verra good on you. It is one of my favorites as well.
Can't wait to see the dress! It sounds beautiful.
Rosie, you would look really cute in the ado(red) tshirt. Tell Mark to get it for you. I know how much you love purple!
Linda, weren't you there when I was getting signed? I think it happened in RBL central, LOL. You and Ro are right, I do love the dress so the alterations are worth it.
I love your guac recipe, knowing it is dangerous LOL. Or rather, sort of knowing it *G*.
Hi Flying High! Welcome to my blog. I hope you pop in again.
LMAO, I told you I was going to blog about my dresses, I never said I was going to show you pics, EG. The shirts are only sold at the Gap. I thought the hamme(red) one was funny.
Thanks Karen. I can't wait to show it to you!
Nice shirt, lQQks great on you.
I can't wear red, it don't go too good with my orange hair.
The dress sounds lovely....cost of alterations don't though. ouch.
Glad the storms didn't get bad in your area either.
March came in like a lion for sure.
Okay, so who can I bribe for the guac recipe? Leiha? Linda? Come on, one of you needs to be weak enough to spill. What's it worth, name your price? Can you tell I love guac? LOL!!!
I'm with ya Rosie. Somebody spill. Share with your sisters!
I adore guacamole. Brian calls it 'yuck-amole'. More for me! (insert maniacal laughter) ;o)
Love the red shirt. Yes, it does look good adorning your girls. They look quite perky & happy. I'll have to wait 'till they're on sale. (The shirts, not the girls)
