and that is the film I'm rooting for this Oscar season (which would be this Sunday, LOL). Of course, I haven't seen any other movie nominated or any other performances but that is neither here nor there. I always have opinions whether I've seen a movie or not, LOL. I think Little Miss Sunshine has a Wes Anderson quirkiness to it which is excellent because I love Wes Anderson movies. It had much more drama then I expected and the acting was awesome. The surly boy reminded me so much of my youngest brother in looks. Nancy you have to watch the movie just so you can see it. I have to call my brother to tell him. Anyway, I digress. The little girl cries in this one scene and it's so real, I can see why she is nominated for an Oscar. Since I'm so over Jennifer Hudson (too much publicity) I'm rooting for Abigail Breslin. I'm also rooting for this as Best Movie. It you haven't seen it, I totally recommend watching it (in case you haven't noticed) just for the talent show scene alone!
So today I went and bought more fixings for salads and had a salad with tons of goodies (spinach, heart of palm, parmesan cheese, cucumber, cilantro, red onion and tuna) and it was great. I bought some packaged tuna, some flavored as well as some packaged salmon I'm going to check out. Problem is, even though I loved my salad at lunch I didn't feel like salad come dinner time. I ended up melting some cheese on bread, not healthy but oh so tasty, LOL. I really need to think more then one meal at a time when I go to the store! I've been to the store a million times this week and still have nothing come dinner time, LOL.
Course, I don't have to worry about that tomorrow night where I will be enjoying lots and lots of goodies at Brenda's house which will be necessary to sop up the booze it sounds like she's going to force me to drink, LOL.
So there won't be any blog tomorrow night but look for some fun pics and stories on Sunday!

15 Mannions Speak :
I absolutely loved this movie!
I won't say I am rooting right along side you, as 'rooting' means a whole different thing in Australia...so I'll cheer along too.
Also, melted cheese on toast is a 'toastie' I like my toasties made with grated cheese and very finely chopped onion and a dollop of ketchup.
Mix in a bowl, put on the bread and then grill...yummy yummy!
J xx
This was indeed a great movie, and the ending was just phenomenal .. I'd be happy if it won Best Picture, but would also be pleased if Scorsese finally wins the big one
I haven't seen the movie and I dunno if I wanna see it.
Have fun at Bam's! Take lots of pics! Record a video!
See you Sunday!
Dish Joanie, what does rooting mean in Australia, LOL.
My neighbor brought over a bunch of sliced cheese so I cut up some french bread I had and had some pepperjack, some swiss and some cheddar, it was all delish!
Welcome to my blog reel fanatic! I would love for LMS to win best picture and Scorsese can win Best Director. I love the underdog which LMS is.
I would say LMS is quirky but there's no way is this a crude, potty humor type of movie. That would be relating this to American Pie (which I did think was funny) or Porky's or something, LOL. In this movie I care about the characters and it really made me laugh while being really touching at some points.
LMAO, I may have to do some recording, we'll see how shy the other girls are. Then again, if they're shy, they can just watch me!
Rooting is a very crude colloquialism for screwing.
Um, I didn't see the toilet humour in it either. I loved the point at the end though. The sexualisation of children outrages me and I liked them showing the hypocrisy of the pageant thing. It was my kinda film...
Your toastie sounds delish! Yum.
J xx
I want to see LMS too. I hope Alan Arkin wins supporting actor.
I watched the Hairy Biker's Cookbook on the BBC last week and thought of you. They were in VIETNAM and used your fish sauce all the time. Did a great prawn dish. (Shrimp)
Here is Prawn Coleslaw ( I think it can be one of your salad meals)
Ingredients
vegetable or peanut oil
75g/3oz raw peanuts
300g/10½oz Chinese cabbage leaves, sliced thinly
1 carrot, peeled and julienned
½ Spanish onion, sliced thinly
8 large cherry tomatoes, sliced
12 king prawns, peeled, de-veined and halved lengthwise
1 cup mixed fresh herbs such as coriander leaves, mint leaves, Thai basil leaves or Vietnamese mint leaves
For the dressing:
150ml/¼pt rice wine vinegar
1 tbsp caster sugar, or to taste
1 tsp dried chilli flakes, or to taste
Method
1. Heat a little vegetable or peanut oil in a frying pan, add the peanuts and roast over a medium heat, stirring regularly until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper and cool.
2. Tightly roll the cabbage leaves together, then slice thinly and place in a large bowl.
3. Using a mandolin, if possible, thinly slice the carrot lengthwise, then using a sharp knife, thinly slice the carrot lengthwise into julienne.
4. Add the carrot, onion, tomatoes, prawns and herbs to the cabbage.
5. Coarsely crush the peanuts in a mortar and pestle and add to the salad.
6. Combine the vinegar, sugar and chilli flakes in a small saucepan, bring to the boil and stir until the sugar dissolves then remove from the heat and cool to room temperature.
7. Add enough dressing to generously coat the salad and toss well to combine. Season to taste.
8. Spoon the salad on to a serving platter and serve as an accompaniment to stir-fried fish and steamed rice.
LMAO Joanie, good to know! When I go to Australia I want to use that term somehow, EG!
I totally aree with you on child beauty pageants! Looking at those little girls trying to look older then me and act sexier then me was disgusting!
Reny, the dish looks delish but it doesn't say how to cook the prawns. I'm surprised there's no fish sauce in this recipe, LOL. Also, what is caster sugar?
I thought at first the two Hairy Bikers were going to show us how to cook the bugs they caught in their beards!
They love the food they find in different countries. In Vietnam they ate local dishes from the street vendors. Lots of fish but no fish smell. Everything was cooked the day it was killed. The fish sauce seemed to be added to the dish as they were about to eat it.
They cooked fish and pork on a sugar cane and it looked great. Vietnam was stop number 2.
Recipes are on the site.( not all from the show)
The URL is http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/tv_and_radio/hairybikers_index.shtml
The URL was cut of. The end goes (after the i for index)

Castor sugar is fine white sugar. Not quite as fine as icing sugar.
Leiha, have fun at Bam's! Sounds like some great food! Wish I could be there!
Not my kind of movie, I can tell LOL
If Lina hated it, I knoe I won't be feeling it...
I hope you had a wonderful time tonight chic!
That little girl looks adorable with her glasses and kicky red boots. Now I can't wait to see it! I don't see too many movies, especially in the theatre (but I could NOT pass up Daniel Craig on the big screen as 007) so I'm really out of the loop with this stuff.
As for the Oscars, I'm not really into them. I'll catch MSNBC in the morning for the highlights, but I just can't sit through hours and hours of that.
Hope you had a fun weekend with Bam!
XOXOX
Libby I want those boots! I think I could totally rock them!
This is actually one of the nominees that I want to see. It looks pretty good. I'm one that will see a movie despite what the reviews are. There are actually a couple of the movies I'd like to see, including The Queen. I love Helen Mirren.
The cheese bread sounds divine!! I love a nice piece of fresh bread with cheese and then put under the broiler. Mmm, tasty!
Smooches!
Bummer, she didn't win and the picture didn't win. I have to say, this awards show was a tad bit boring but that's because there's only 6 categories I care about and it's on for 4 hours!
