It was a looooong winter so when planning for a girls getaway our # 1 requirement was some place we knew would be warm in April, secondary was somewhere where most of us hadn't been before. When trying to co-ordinate with 10 other well traveled girls that gets difficult. So Phoenix it was, even tho Cheryl has a house there. She still came out to spend time with us, awwww!
Usually I do a different post for every day I'm on vacation, or at least I try to but we didn't actually do a lot on this trip. I love it when we rent a house together. When there's a large group in a hotel, you go out but when you're back in the hotel, you're all in separate rooms. Here we get to spend time together, doing nothing. Which I really excel at!
Barb got us a great deal on a van that could fit all of us in it and our suitcases! It was awesome to all be in the same car when we do leave the house. More quality time with each other, not very good if you don't like who you're with but that's not the case with us. We're there to spend as much time together and to get away from the real world.
I wasn't expecting to be so impressed with the beauty of AZ since I'm more of a tropical gal but we were surrounded by beauty.
When we rent a house, we have most of our meals in. Why would we go out when we're surrounded with fantastic cooks?
This is just one of the many gourmet meals that we had.
And every time I see Barb I request that she makes her chocolate pavlova. It's like eating a chocolate cloud with a whipped cream topping and fresh fruit. I'm not a big chocolate eater and this is one of my favorite desserts ever. The first time she made this was when we were in Charleston. You can get the recipe here.
The one day we did leave the house we drove to Sedona. We got our only group photo with all of us at the rest area along the way. 11 women in a van, of course, we're stopping for a potty break!
These are some of the ladies who went on a hike (Su and Linda were ahead of them). Barb and I were smarter then that and went shopping and had a snack instead. We found a great beef jerky place and I spent a lot of time sampling and buying.
Once we all met back up we went to lunch at some Cowboy place. Unfortunately that didn't mean it was full of cowboys and it seemed like they were out of half of the menu.
We made a couple of stops along the way home. You know we're always looking for picture opportunities.
Other then our trip to Sedona we barely left the house. We had a small pool, a large couch and a pontoon. Except for trips to the grocery store we spent our days lounging around and making wonderful memories with each other.
It's hard to get more relaxing then riding the pontoon around the canals in the neighborhood.
OK, maybe lying by the pool watching pontoons go by is more relaxing.
We did find the energy to wander the neighborhood and take pics. They were cheesy and fun!
Kudos to Sharon who kept setting the shots up and then running around to get in the pic.
Sitting around the table, enjoying great friends, great food and laughing over the stupid things we do (such as taking this pic when Mich was out of the room to drive her crazy) is what girlfriend trips are all about!
